Product description of The Three Stooges Collection, Volume 6: 1949-1951

The Three Stooges return with the next 24 digitally remastered shorts covering the years 1949-1951 in this sixth collection, which continues with Shemp as the third Stooge, who had stepped in two years earlier to fill the shoes left empty when Curly became ill and retired. This collection contains such classics as Merry Mavericks (1951), a reworking of Phony Express (1943) featuring Red Morgan and his gang of bandits; Self Made Maids (1950), in which the Stooges not only play themselves but assume the roles of their fiancées, their fiancées’ father (played by Moe) and their three babies; and Don’t Throw that Knife (1951), which features Larry, Moe and Shemp in brilliant improvisation with nothing but household items while confined to a single room. The Three Stooges Collection Volume 6 showcases Larry, Moe and Shemp at their best – and things just keep getting better!

    • The Stooges are running a small restaurant in the Middle East, where they have to retrieve a ruby from a Rajah by … impersonating Santa Claus?
  • Vagabond Loafers

  • Dunked in the Deep
    • The Stooges are tricked into becoming stowaways by their neighbor Borscht, a spy. Stranded on a freighter on the high seas, and sustained by eating salami, they discover that their ‘friend’ has concealed stolen microfilm in watermelons. After a wild chase, the boys overtake Borscht and recover the microfilm.

The Three Stooges Collection volume 6, 1950

  • Punchy Cowpunchers
    • The Three Stooges are sent out west to capture the Killer Dillons gang. A very funny short, with a very large supporting cast, including Stooge regulars Vernon Dent, Emil Sitka and Christine McIntyre.
  • Hugs and Mugs
    • Three beautiful ex-cons are looking for their stolen necklace, hidden in a piece of furniture now owned by the Stooges — so they begin flirting with Moe, Larry and Shemp; and then their gangster ex-boyfriends show up!

  • Studio Stoops
    • In Studio Stoops, the Three Stooges are mistaken for publicity men by the head of B. O. Studios, and ordered to arrange publicity for the studio’s newest starlet, Dolly Devore.  They plan on a faked kidnapping, which is overheard by real crooks who decide to cash in on the setup.
  • Slaphappy Sleuths
    • The Stooges are investigators for the Onion Oil company, whose service stations are being robbed by a gang of crooks — and they’re as inept as undercover detectives as anything else!
  • A Snitch in Time
    • Moe, Larry and Shemp are working at “Ye Olde Furniture Shoppe” where they make custom furniture, and are two weeks late on an order for Miss Scudder’s boarding house.  Despite the slapstick, they manage to rescue Miss Scudder from her newest boarders — gangsters!

The Three Stooges Collection volume 6, 1951

  • Three Arabian Nuts
    • As owners of a storage company, the Stooges give customers an inferiority complex about their valuables. But when Shemp finds a lamp and conjures up a genie, its not the irate customers they’re worried about, its the Arabian thieves who have come for the lamp
  • Baby Sitters Jitters
    • Forced to be baby sitters in lieu of their overdue rent, the Three Stooges are forced to watch Junior — the ultimate misbehaving child.  Until Junior is kidnapped by his estranged father!
  • Don’t Throw That Knife
    • You would think that the Three Stooges would know better than to irritate a knife-throwing husband — but you’d be wrong!
  • Scrambled Brains
    • Shemp is recovering from a nervous breakdown … but he’s not quite back to ab-normal!
  • Merry Mavericks
    • A remake of “Phony Express“. Set in the American Old West, the Three Stooges are mistaken for lawmen, and manage to actually capture a gang of crooks. Moe, Larry and Shemp are then given the assignment of guarding money in an old house, reputed to be haunted by the ghost of an Indian Chief.
  • The Tooth Will Out
    • The Three Stooges perform dentistry in the Old West. “Go West, young man, go west!” begs their dentistry professor, and so they do. Shemp does his classic blind act while trying to pull teeth, and the Stooges mix up “The Amatuer Carpenter” with their dentistry manual.
  • Hula La La
    • Studio boss Emil Sitka has bought the tropical island of Rarabonga, to film the native dances—but the natives don’t dance!  So he sends studio employees Moe, Larry and Shemp to teach them.  Unfortunately, while the natives can’t dance, they can shrink heads!
  • Pest Man Wins
    • The Stooges are pest exterminators who decide to drum up business by planting mice, moths, and ants in an unsuspecting house. They select a fancy mansion where a high society dinner party is being held. After successfully infesting the house with pests, the trio are predictably hired to clean up their own mess without interrupting the party.
