In The Hot Scots, the Three Stooges guard a Scottish castle … Can they find the crooks who’ve been robbing the Earl? Who are the spooks?
Synopsis
The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Shemp Howard) have graduated from a correspondence detective school. They apply with Scotland Yard, and are happy when they’re hired to be “Yard Men”. Unfortunately, that means they’re doing yard work — trimming bushes, etc.
But, luck intervenes, and they have a chance to prove their worth as detectives. They go to protect the prized possessions of The Earl of Glenheather Castle (Herbert Evans). Dressed in kilts and talking in phony Scottish accents, the Stooges (as McMoe, McLarry, and McShemp) are on the case … Trying to find out who’s been robbing the Earl blind. Could it be the butler (Theodore Lorch)? The secretary (Christine McIntyre)? And who’s dressing up as spooks to scare the Stooges away?

- This was Theodore Lorch’s final film appearance. He died a few months prior to the short’s release.
- The 108th Three Stooges short film for Columbia
- Like Squareheads of the Round Table and Fiddlers Three, The Hot Scots was filmed on the existing set of the feature film The Bandit of Sherwood Forest. It was remade in 1954 as Scotched in Scotland, using stock footage.
